I have been writing computer software for 30 years.  My 1st fortray was on a Commodore 64 using Basic, Assembly, and Script.  Up to large Mainframes with 9 disk packs as big as a mini-fridge, loaded manually from boxes of index cards that numbered as many as in my small file cabinent.  Now using Internet Web deployment and software utilizing multiple CPUs on a PC.
    Computer Science Degree was actually a relatively new degree offered by colleges when I enrolled.  First on the Object oriented bandwagon, falling in love with Turbo Pascal, before it became mainstreem and object oriented concepts became well accepted programming practices.  Even took on my first programming language that paid my bills (Cliper) and developed an user object interface, forcing the language to behave as object oriented rules.
  My 1st Computer job was was by an error/accident that turned out o be the greatest event of my life.  I thought I was getting a job as a computer lab assistant that my Fresshman College Calculus teacher told me about.  See my mainframe experience for more information.
  I thoroughly enjoy a challenge.  Problem solving is my forte.  My 1st job in non-academic circles, I understood Floppy disk access timings and using this knowledge I was able to buffer output and thus decrease time saving data to floppy for state Recoreds from 2 hours to 10 minutes.  I also in my another job I optimized a phone company plan calculator for large businesses with 50_ phone lines.  There they would have multiple plans for each phone line and it took 2 days to calculate really large clients.  I found redundant logic and non-optimization or lack of Matrix use.  I fixed it and it was more accurate and ran in about 4 hrs instead of 2 days.
